Paseo Drive for the Homeless Alliance November 1-30

If you lost everything, what would you need to restart your life? Smash Bangles, The Paseo Arts District, and the Oklahoma Gazette will be helping the OklahomaHomeless Alliance address that very problem for the hundreds of individuals impacted by homelessness who are trying to build a new home. The month-long supply drive will be kicked off November 2 with the annual Fresh StART Show at the Paseo Plunge and featuring artists who are participating in the Homeless Alliance’s art program.

 

The businesses are asking that the public bring NEW items, listed below, to any of the drop-off locations in the Paseo Arts District beginning on the Paseo’s November First Friday Art Walk, Friday, November 2nd through November 30th. There will be several drop-off locations for new donated items.

 

Donated household items will go to the recently housed clients of the Homeless Alliance to help make their new home complete. Winter gear donations will go to the guests of the Homeless Alliance’s Day Shelter.  

 

Once a person donates, their receipt will allow them to Everyone who drops off their donation in the Paseo Arts District will receive a coupon good at dozens of Paseo merchants in the Paseo Arts District.  These discounts will be honored for the duration of the drive.

 

Items needed include (NEW ITEMS ONLY, please):

Gloves, hats, socks, blankets, chap stick, hand warmers, cleaning supplies, pots and pans, bath towels, plastic plates and bowls, silverware, cooking utensils, can openers, trash cans and bags, coffeemakers, crockpots, microwaves, shower curtains and hooks, laundry bags and baskets, rag mops and buckets. “Last year, the Homeless Alliance housed 715 people through all of our programs and collaborative initiatives,” said Kinsey Crocker of the Homeless Alliance. “Many people are starting off with nothing but the clothes on their back. Providing them with basic household itemshousing needs, like cleaning supplies and bedding, helps each individual’s transition to be so much smoother, making their home more functional and comfortable.”
